Counter Button

Counter Button

Use the Counter button to increase the value of a number custom field by 1 each time the button is pressed.

This button can ensure a change in a specific custom field so you can trigger an Automation Rule of type “Field value changed” after pressing it.

Here are a few examples of how you might use Jira automation to manually trigger:

  1. You can use the counter button for triggering an automation rule that will transition the issue from one status to another. For example, you might create a "Mark as Reviewed" button that moves an issue from the "To Do" status to the "In Review" status.

  2. You can use the counter button to manually trigger an action of sending an email. For example, you might create a "Notify Stakeholders" button that sends an email notification to a predefined list of stakeholders.

  3. You can use the counter button to manually trigger the creation of a pre-configured set of subtasks, in case it is known and repetitive.
